How can a photograph become more than an "image"?
1. Each pictures explains a different story. It becomes not just an image, but rather its a chance for the viewer to look through the eyes of the photographer. It is a chance for them to see through their eyes and think like they are thinking. Each image is a blink of an eye.
What affect does size or scale have on the power of a photograph?
2. I think the larger the scale of the image the more powerful the image. Some really small subjects can be made to look powerful and strong even though they are small items. I think the more focused the photograph is on a specific item, the more successful the photograph is.
How does location and context change the way we perceive and understand photographs?
3. It depends on where you take the photo and what is in the background to determine which kind of emotion is spurred from the specific photo. If the background is dark and gloomy, it will give the viewer a sad feeling or gloomy feel. If there is a shining sun and the light is vivid, it will bring a happier tone to the picture. I think setting and location also has a lot to do with the tone of an image. Also, it helps you to pick out details from the location.
What can you take from JR's photography to make your images stronger? How might your images become more impactful?
4. I think the one thing I learned from looking at JR's work is that size and scale are important. The bigger, the better. Also, a strong theme will help to get the point across better when using twelve pictures to get across one idea I believe a strong theme is key.
